CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Parents will have to find somewhere else for their children to go after school in Montgomery County.
The Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Virginia canceled its program at Christiansburg Middle and Shawsville Middle Schools for this year.
Program leaders tell us a $200,000 grant was not renewed.
The agency relies on the competitive 21st Century grant to fund the program - it was awarded to another state organization.
Parents who have counted on the program year after year are concerned.
"I'm disappointed that a program that means so much to the community, because a lot of these children don't have the help that they need when they get home and parents don't always understand the new math and the new programs that's going on. Then you can't help your child," said Janet Hinkley, a parent.
The agency says it will reapply for the grant this year.
The program provides activities and helps students with homework after school.
