Large turnout for Toys for Tots motorcycle ride in Salem

SALEM, Va. (WDBJ7) Santa usually rides a sleigh, but he traded it in for a motorcycle.

Hundreds of bikers rode through Roanoke County and Vinton for kids in need. Bikers filled up large bins with toys in order to help the national Toys for Tots program. Santa stopped through on his shiny red bike to pass out candy canes.

"They go to kids that maybe not have a great Christmas," said Karen Willenbring. "I would think they would be very excited, very excited to know that we took time out and the Marines took time out to give this to them so I think it's going to be a great time."

Toys for Tots is organized by the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve and toys collected will go to kids living in the area.
