ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) Lawyers and judges took over eighth grade civic classes in Roanoke Wednesday for Rule of Law Day.

The law professionals used the opportunity to give students a lesson on the origin and meaning of the rule of law.

“It also takes real case studies that involve teenagers and puts them in a rule of law context so it allows us to show them how the rule of law applies to them,” lawyer Charles Downs said.

Downs highlighted issues students care about, like freedom of speech and social media, to help them understand the rule of law.
