LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ7) The Lexington-Rockbridge Jaycees got to hand out some big checks Tuesday night.

At their regular meeting, the Jaycees passed out five checks, ranging from $3,300 to $5,000, to five local groups. The money was profits raised from events the Jaycees run every year to help local charities and philanthropic groups.

“We try to help out as many people in the community as we can, try to provide services where needed, funds where needed,” Brent Buswell, Jaycee president, said.

The recipients included the Chamber of Commerce, YMCA, Rockbridge Area Health Center, the Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center, and the SPCA.
