Lexington and Roanoke compete to get Top Outdoor Town honors

LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ) Lexington and Roanoke are in the fourth round of online voting for the top three outdoor towns. Lexington is in the Small Town category – and up against Franklin, North Carolina – while Roanoke is battling Knoxville in the Large Town section. The Lexington tourism people aren’t at all surprised that out area would dominate the choices.

“Well, this region and the Shenandoah Valley is just an outdoorsman’s paradise," Patty Williams of the Lexington and Rockbridge Area Tourism Office says. "We’ve got forests and rivers, all kinds of hiking trail, biking outlets, water recreation, so it’s got something for everyone.”

You can cast one vote on the Blue Ridge Outdoors website every 24 hours. The contest ends Monday, September 19.
