Lexington has Community Food festival to welcome students

LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ) -- Six food vendors served tasty treats al fresco. It's all to welcome back the W&L students, but the were happy to see anyone interested in the food scene in the town.
"We have heard in the past that students can be here four years and never really know all the shops and things there are downtown, so we thought: Let’s try and get them down in their first couple of days and see if they can get to know the place really quickly," says Stephanie Wilkinson of Main Street Lexington. "It’s going to be their home for four years."
The event ran all evening in a downtown parking lot, as well as outreach through the area for students -- and anyone else -- to learn more about the many shops in Lexingon.
