Lexington hotel prepares for New Year's

LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ7) The countdown clock is ticking over the door of the Robert E Lee Hotel, and the glittering ball is poised on the flagpole above the roof to drop at midnight.

This is the third year for the hotel’s celebrations, where a themed party is inside and Main Street is blocked for the ball drop while anyone can gather and celebrate outside.

“Last year we had a lot of props that were set off," says Brittany Wright, General Manager, "Such as bubble makers and balloons and things like that. So there’s going to be a few things coming off the roof that we’re interested in having interaction with the crowd, so we’re looking forward to having that happen.”

The big packages that include a room or dinner at the hotel are long sold out, but you can still get into the party by paying at the door.
