Lexingtonians pack boxes for soldiers overseas

LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ7) You’ll remember we told you about some folks collecting treats to send to our military overseas for Christmas.

Well, they got a great response, and were packing up the goodies to ship out today so the troops would get it in time.

“You take for granted the stuff that means something when you’re not at home," says Jaclyn Hostetter, of AmeriCares Plus, an organizer of the project. "So it’s comfort food. It’s comfort food from home that really will – it’ll put a smile on a soldiers face, and that’s what it was all about.”

They also enclosed some cards written by local schoolchildren for the soldiers.
