Lexington's Waddell Elementary starts work on playground

LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ7) They’ve begun work on the final touch for Lexington’s elementary school.

A brand new Waddell Elementary opened last fall, but without a brand new playground to go with it.

But after a fundraising effort by the PTA and some help from the city and school board, they began work.

“Past couple of years, we’ve seen this playground, and in a matter of weeks we’re going to see something completely new, a completely new item in our landscape for Waddell Elementary School for generations to come," says Scott Jefferies, Superintendent of Lexington City Schools. "It’s going to be completely different but exciting.”

They expect to finish the project in about two weeks, just in time for when the kids come back to school.
