ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) - In honor of International Women's Day, local organizations gave local women a chance to share their stories Thursday night.
The League of Women Voters of the Roanoke Valley co-hosted the celebration at the Vinton Library. Girl Scout Troop 94 kicked off the event, presenting the flag and reciting the honor code.
During the panel, several local women like Bernadette Brown got the chance to share how they work and envisions progress in the community.
"And I think if we come together and begin to listen more to each other we would understand that, it's an easy fix," said Brown, a local activist. "And sometimes it's ok to disagree. But just listen to each other so we can begin to make progress."
This marks the third year of this event. Organizers say they want to celebrate women and inspire them to see their potential.
