LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Lynchburg’s first Aldi store is scheduled to open Thursday, according to a release from the discount grocery store chain.
A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 8:45 Thursday morning at the new store on Lakeside Drive in Lynchburg, just south of the Lynchburg Expressway and Old Forest Road.
The first 100 shoppers will receive “golden tickets,” containing Aldi gift certificates of various amounts.
Company officials say the Lynchburg store will include new features and more space than some of the chain’s other locations nationwide.
Aldi has 1,500 stores in 33 states, including a Roanoke location that opened in 2015. The region’s first Aldi opened in Danville more than seven years ago.
