Lynchburg Fire Chief preparing to retire at end of year

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) -- As one leader is getting ready to step down in Lynchburg, another is getting ready to step in.

Fire Chief Brad Ferguson will officially retire on December 31. (WDBJ7)

Fire Chief Brad Ferguson is officially retiring on December 31.
Ferguson has served more than four decades at the department. Twelve of those years as the LFD Chief. “Having worked here for more than 40 years in varying capacities, his love for the community and love for this organization really has been instrumental to our growth," said
Deputy Fire Chief Greg Wormser.

Wormser will step in as acting fire chief as the search for a replacement continues.
