Lynchburg Police investigate overnight shooting

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) A man was shot in Lynchburg early Sunday morning according to the Lynchburg Police Department.

Raheem Jefferson, 19, went to the emergency room at Lynchburg General Hospital suffering from an apparent gunshot wound around 2:30 a.m.

He told police that he left a party in the 6100 block of Fort Avenue before the shooting occurred. Jefferson was admitted to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Multiple shots fired calls were received around 12:55 a.m. in the vicinity of the 7100 and 7200 blocks of Timberlake Road, which is a near the 6100 block of Fort Avenue. It’s unknown at this time if these two incidents are related.

The investigation is ongoing.
