UPDATE: Man arrested in Lynchburg Family Dollar robbery

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) -- UPDATE: 8/15/18
The Lynchburg Police Department has made an arrest in relation to the Family Dollar robbery that happened last week.

Detectives were able to locate and arrest Keith Anthony Sparrow, 38, of Lynchburg on Wednesday. According to police, Sparrow was charged with two felony offenses including robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Sparrow was taken to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail.

The Lynchburg Police Department needs the public's help finding a suspect involved a robbery at a Family Dollar.

At 6:44 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the Family Dollar on Federal Street for a robbery.

Police say a black male wearing a gray shirt and dark pants entered the business and shopped around for a while before approaching the front counter where a cashier was standing.

The man was now wearing a white V-neck t-shirt. With his hands concealed, the suspect told the cashier to give him money from the register.

The subject then fled the scene with an unknown amount of cash toward the roundabout at 5th Street.

The suspect is described as a heavyset, possibly in his 40’s, 5’8”-5’10” tall, with a close cut hairstyle and chinstrap style beard.
