Lynchburg man arrested in connection to 2016 murder

AMHERST CO., Va. (WDBJ7) Update: Rodney Hamlette, 19, from Lynchburg was arrested early Thursday morning in Baltimore Maryland by US Marshals.

Original story: A man was arrested in relation to a murder that happened last year and deputies are searching for another subject wanted in connection to the murder, according to the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office.

Floyd Archie Jr. 18, of Lynchburg was arrested Thursday morning and has been charged with second-degree murder. His arrest is related to the murder of Troy Roberson, 41, of Spout Springs that happened Oct. 25, 2016. He was taken to the Amherst Adult Detention Center where he’s being held without bond.

Officials are searching for Rodney Hamlette, 19, of Lynchburg who is wanted for second-degree murder and should be considered armed and dangerous.
