Lynchburg man enters guilty plea on charge related to mother's death

LYNCHBURG, Va (WDBJ7) A Lynchburg man has pleaded guilty to charges related to the death of his mother.

Terry McKellips entered his plea this afternoon on a charge of abuse or neglect causing serious injury.

He was originally facing a more serious charge of abuse causing death, but prosecutors reduced his charge at today's plea hearing.

McKellips was taking care of his 87-year-old mother, Carla, when she died in Feburary of 2014.

He faces up to 10 years in prison when he's formally sentenced July 27.
