Lynchburg appoints first female City Manager

LYNCHBURG, Va. A new leader has been appointed to take over the reins of city government in Lynchburg.

Lynchburg City Council announced Tuesday that Bonnie Svrcek has been hired as city manager.

Svrcek will replace Kimball Payne, who will retire in June after 15 years as city manager.

Svercek has served under Payne as deputy city manager for several years.
