LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Many of Lynchburg's downtown churches are dressed up for the holiday season.
This weekend you can tour the decorations while supporting a nonprofit.
Interfaith Outreach Association is holding its second annual "Downtown Lynchburg Historic Church Open House."
Nine churches in a five block area will open their doors on Saturday.
This year visitors will get to experience something new. Musical performances will be held in each sanctuary.
"A big part of this time of year is not just visually what you see, but the excitement of the music that gets you in the spirit," said Interfaith Outreach executive director, Shawne Farmer. "The churches themselves are not just defined by their physical attributes. It's the people and the music that make them come alive."
The Historic Church Open House is this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at the door of participating churches, which include Court Street Baptist Church, Court Street United Methodist Church, First Unitarian Church, First Baptist Church, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Holy Cross Catholic Church, Diamond Hill Baptist Church, Eighth Street Baptist Church, and Jackson Street United Methodist Church.
