Lynchburg police arrest man on child porn charges

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Lynchburg police arrested a man accused of possessing and distributing child pornography.

The Lynchburg Police Department’s Forensics Unit has been proactively investigating the online sharing of child pornography within the city. During this investigation investigators obtained a search warrant for a home in the Misty Mountain Road area.

As a result of that search, 43-year-old Michael Allen Rider was arrested on Friday. He is charged with 10 counts of possessing child pornography and one count of distributing child pornography.

Rider is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Lynchburg without bond.
