LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) With negativity surrounding police all over the country, one Lynchburg police officer got to feel appreciated.

Over the weekend, Senior Officer Kayla Young walked out to her patrol car to find Post-it notes on the window.

One note said, "Thank you for all you do to protect and serve." The other said, "We're praying for you all."

Officer Young says it's a simple gesture that goes a long way.

"It's nice to see something like that," Young said. "People appreciating you and what you do especially, that was the day everything happened in Baton Rouge so especially on a day like that, it's really nice to see."

Young said she placed the notes on the car's visor so she and the other officers who share the car can have a positive reminder at all times.
