Lynchburg veterans mourn loss of World War II comrade

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Military veterans in Lynchburg are mourning the loss of a comrade.

Earl Washington died Sunday. He was part of the famed "Red Ball Express," a truck convoy that carried supplies into Europe after the D-Day campaign during World War II.

At 95 Washington was still an active part of the weekly "Support Our Troops" rally at Monument Terrace.

Washington's funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 PM at Community Funeral Home in Lynchburg.
