LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) -- UPDATE:
According to the Lynchburg Police Department, the malicious wounding incident on Cabell Street was determined to be domestic in nature.
Police say there is no threat to the public at this time.
According to police, when officers arrived on scene they found a 33 year old man who had been shot. The man was transported to the Lynchburg General Hospital where he is receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Police say there was a 24 year old man also at the scene. He had been reportedly pistol-whipped in the face during the same incident. He was also transported to Lynchburg General Hospital.
An woman was located inside the home on Cabell Street. Police say she had what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She was transported to the Lynchburg General Hospital where she later died from her injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
Three people have been sent to the hospital following a malicious wounding incident in Lynchburg Wednesday morning.
According to the Lynchburg City dispatch, officers responded to a home on the 900 block of Cabell Street at around 2:17 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a call about a malicious wounding incident there.
Dispatch says three people were taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is not yet known.
