CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7) -- A man was arrested in Carroll County after a traffic stop revealed he was a fugitive while possessing illegal drugs and stolen guns, according to a release from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.
On Dec. 1, deputies tried to make a traffic stop on Route 52 in Cana for a vehicle with extremely loud exhaust. The vehicle did not stop, but continued onto Paul's Creek Road, according to the release.
Once the vehicle stopped, deputies identified the driver as Roger Dale Williams, 45, who showed both a local and a Danville address. A driver's license check revealed that Williams was driving under a suspended license and was wanted on a warrant out of Pittsylvania County, the release said.
Upon a search of Williams' vehicle, deputies recovered pills, more than $1000 in cash and a small amount of heroin, according to the release.
According to the release, deputies located two firearms in Williams' vehicle, a loaded 9mm pistol, reportedly stolen out of Stafford County, Va. and a Bushmaster AR-15 rifle with 14 loaded, 30 round magazines.
Williams was charged with recless driving, attempting to elude police, being a fugitive from justice, two counts of possession of a Schedule I or Schedule II drug, two counts of possession of a firearm while being a convicted violent felon, and possession of a firearm with in possession of a Schedule I or II drug, according to the release.
Williams is being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail without bond.
