STAFFORD COUNTY/ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- The Roanoke Police Department along with the Stafford County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide which resulted in the arrest of one man.
Authorities say the incident happened on February 5 within the Stafford County jurisdiction.
According to the Roanoke Police Department's Facebook page, a man was arrested for shooting and killing his brother in the area of Holly Drive in Stafford County.
According to authorities, on February 6, the Roanoke Police Department notified the Stafford County Sheriff's Office that they had a man in custody who had admitted to the shooting in Stafford.
Authorities say an unknown dispute occurred on Monday afternoon between the William Jackson Veronee, 21, of Aiken, S.C., and the victim, Christopher Andrew Veronee, 33, of Stafford.
Following the homicide, authorities say William Veronee stole his brother's vehicle, which broke down in the area of Roanoke. Authorities say they then received a tip of a "suspicious suspect" by staff at a cold weather shelter.
Upon arrival to the shelter, Roanoke Police spoke with the man and later arrested him. The stolen vehicle was recovered by the Roanoke Police Department.
William Veronee was charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently being held at the Roanoke City Jail.
This incident remains under investigation.
