Man charged with second-degree murder in Lexington woman's death

LEXINGTON, Va (WDBJ7) -- A Lexington man is facing second-degree murder charges after authorities said a woman was stabbed.

Rockbridge County deputies responded to a call about a possible suicide at the Hunt Ridge Apartments around 11:00 p.m. Thursday night. They found Kelly Farmer dead at the scene.

Authorities said during their investigation deputies found Farmer had been involved in a domestic dispute, and she was stabbed several times.

Derek Chittum was later arrested and charged. He is being held in the Rockbridge Regional Jail without bond.
