HENRY Co., Va. (WDBJ7) This weekend, tens of thousands will be packing Martinsville Speedway ahead of the big racing weekend.
Come Sunday, the speedway president says 50,000 people will be piling in for the Goody's Fast Relief 500.
We were out yesterday getting a look at all the commotion ahead of race day. Hundreds of campers are already set up, and more will be rolling in Friday throughout the day.
Qualifiers for the Sprint Cup Series race will be today, as well as practice for Saturday's Texas Roadhouse 200. Racing is always the draw, but the speedway president says one of the largest factors that'll help them is out of their control.
Clay Campbell, Martinsville Speedway president, said, "The biggest thing I can say is I don't need to talk to Robin this weekend. We've got beautiful clear warm skies for the race. Best weekend I think we've ever had as far as temperatures and not worrying about the weather."
They encourage fans to get out here early and ensure that there's plenty to do before races start.
You can get tickets by visiting the speedway website or by calling 1-877-RACE-TIX.
