Martinsville and Henry County animal shelters are full

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) Two hometown animal shelters are asking for your help because they are either at or near capacity and need to find homes for the animals.

The Martinsville animal shelter, and Henry County shelter are running out of room.

Henry County only has one open spot, and Martinsville is full.

Shelter managers say this happens a lot in the summer months, because dogs run off because of noise.

Then they are alone, and trying to find food or shelter.

"Dogs will get picked up, but the owners don't know to look for them, here, and some people don't look for them at all," says Henry County shelter manager, Donna Belcher.

Managers say the best thing to do if your dog goes missing is to call and check area shelters, or visit in person to find your dog.
