MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) The city of Martinsville is selling its summer, college-league baseball team to a company that specializes in sports ownership.

In a unanimous vote Tuesday night, city council gave the city manager permission to enter a sales agreement with National Sports Services of Topeka, Kansas.

The team is not leaving Martinsville. They will stay under different ownership, once the sale is final.

"We'll have I guess you would call it a gentleman's agreement to work on some improvements on the facility itself," said Wayne Knox, assistant city manager for the city of Martinsville.

City leaders want to make improvements to the stadium where the Mustang's currently play, including new restrooms and covered seating.

City leaders say their agreement with National Sports Services should be finalized by October.
