HENRY CO., Va. (WDBJ7) John Richardson of Martinsville is facing several charges after leading Henry County deputies on a 20-mile chase through the Collinsville area.

It started around 12:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, in the Woodhaven Road area.

The Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center got a call that Richardson was armed with two guns and was making suicidal threats.

He drove off in a 2008 Blue Ford Focus. That car was later reported as stolen.

Nearly 20 minutes later, a deputy from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office spotted the car in the parking lot of the Liberty Mart convenience store on Liberty Street.

The deputy spoke to Richardson, who then got into his car and sped off. The deputy tried to pull him over, but he refused.

Richardson eventually lost control of his vehicle and came to a stop.

Deputies found Richardson was armed, and he refused to put down his guns. After a brief struggle he was arrested.

No one was hurt.

Richardson is charged with several felonies and a few misdemeanor charges.

He's being held in jail without bond.
