MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) The Martinsville Police Department has charged Robert Wayne Reynolds, 52 of 103 Maple Street Martinsville, with First Degree Murder.

The warrant is for the death on July 12, 2017 of Katherine White Likens.

Reynolds was arrested Saturday at a hotel in Collinsville by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Martinsville Police Department, and the U. S. Marshal’s Joint Fugitive Task Force.

He is currently being held in Martinsville City Jail under no bond.

On Thursday around 12:30 p.m., Likens was reported missing. Police officers began tracing her daily routines and typical routes of travel.

After several hours of searching multiple locations, officers found Likens’ body in the wooded area in between Ellsworth Street and Cleveland Avenue.

The Office of the Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head.

The investigation had revealed that Reynolds and Likens knew each other and had previously dated.

Chief Eddie Cassady stated, “Although this investigation is on-going, I want to thank the hard working officers of the Martinsville Police Department, Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshall Fugitive Task Force, the up-town business community, and our citizens for their assistance during this unfortunate incident. I also want to reassure our citizens that the up-town area is a safe place.”
