UPDATE: Martinsville police have made an arrest in the hit and run incident

Update:

Martinsville Police Officers arrested Darrick Keith Giles, age 45, of 804 Parkview Lane Martinsville, for Felony Hit and Run and Reckless Driving.

Police were informed about a possible suspect in the vehicle crash where the pedestrian, Joseph Mooney, was crossing Spruce Street.

Officers used that information to locate the suspect vehicle and interviewed Giles. During the interview, Giles admitted to driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.

He is currently in the Martinsville City Jail with a $4,500.00 bond.

Police in Martinsville are investigating a hit and run involving a pedestrian.

Officers say the incident happened Monday morning on Spruce Street.

Police say Joseph Mooney was hit by a car while crossing the street.
Mooney was taken to a hospital.

Police say the vehicle that hit Mooney did not stop. Witnesses at the scene described the vehicle as a 2001 to 2003 dark grey or black Honda Civic.
