UPDATE: Lynchburg man arrested in reference to armed robbery

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) UPDATE:

A man was arrested in reference to an armed robbery in Lynchburg, acccording to the Lynchburg Police Department.

Oscar Floyd Jr., 20, of Lynchburg was arrested around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Floyd was charged with abduction, armed robbery, the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Floyd is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.

A masked man robbed the Sunshine Market in Lynchburg on Tuesday night.

It happened around 11 p.m. at the 2901 Campbell Ave.

A man walked in wearing dark clothing and a mask over his face. He then took out a long barrel gun and demanded cash.

The man ran off after taking several hundred dollars. No one was hurt.

Store workers say they had an extensive surveillance system but even that did not deter the robber. They are concerned due to other recent robberies in the area.
