Mattel releases new Barbie dolls based on inspiring women

In honor of International Women's Day, Mattel is introducing a new line of Barbie dolls based on real-life figures.

The line is called "Inspiring Women" and the dolls will be based on historical figures as well as inspirational contemporary women.

Three of the "Inspiring Women" dolls include aviator Amelia Earhart, artist Frida Kahlo, and mathematician Katherine Johnson.

Mattel is releasing 14 news dolls in total in this series that started in 2015.

Other dolls include "Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins and U.S. snowboarder Chloe Kim.

Some of the other dolls honor fashion designers, journalists, actresses, and entrepreneurs.
