Mill Mountain Star turns 68!

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) The iconic symbol of Virginia's Blue Ridge is celebrated a birthday Thursday!

The Mill Mountain Star turned 68 and to celebrate, many people have been sharing their photos of the must-see spot on social media.

The star was built in 1949 and illuminated for the first time on November 23rd.

It stands 88.5 feet tall, weighs 10,000 pounds and is formed by 2,000 feet of neon tubing.
