BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) More than 40 women and teens are walking the runway this weekend in Blacksburg competing to be the next Miss Virginia USA.

The competitions started Saturday night during the preliminary show at the Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech.

Contestants wore their best active wear, evening gowns, and swimsuits to catch the judge's eyes.

Former Virginia Tech Head Football Coach Frank Beamer skipped the Notre Dame game today to attend the pageant.

"He's also going to be giving the girls a pep talk before they go out on stage to compete for the final night. So that will be interesting how he takes it from a locker room to a stage with glamorous, beautiful girls," Kim Nicewonder, the executive director of the competition, said.

The final show starts tomorrow at 6 p.m. where the ladies will be crowned.

The new Miss Virginia USA will also win a brand new Mercedes.
