CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Helping people comes naturally for first responders. It's easy for them to answer the call but sometimes people don't know how to make the call.
First responders in Christiansburg are hosting a fun day for people with special needs to show them how they can get medical or police help on their own and faster.
The event is called EFFORT, Enabling Friends For Our Response Teams.
The sheriff's office is teaming with the area rescue and fire departments to teach people how to properly contact 911, how to properly bandage, and understand safe ways to put out fires.
The event is Saturday from 10 am until 1 pm at Christiansburg High School.
