LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) The Motherhood Collective is just one non-profit working to benefit from Giving Tuesday, but they have taken their cause off line as well.
They are hosting a watch party all day long. Altus Chocolate offered to help and opened their second floor loft to the group from 10am-8pm. The store will also be donating 20% proceeds made Tuesday to the organization.
Members of the Motherhood Collective have been camped out all day with a Facebook live stream, brand new merchandise, community building activities and of course activities for the kids.
“Giving Tuesday is crucial to the non-profits. We can't forget that we survive on the generosity of businesses large and small and also individual donors,” said Lauren Barnes, Executive Director of the Motherhood Collective. “So this is a great way to remind everyone before the end of their years, of our calendar years- that we need their support.”
The non-profit provides maternal health programming. Past programs have dealt with issues such as post-partum depression, breast health, and miscarriage. They provide mothers with a community to learn, grow, and openly discuss issues that might not get a lot of attention in other circles.
