DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) The annual Music on Main concert series kicks off Thursday night in Danville!

Music on Main has been a summer tradition in Danville for several years.

There's a variety of bands, from bluegrass and country, to Elvis tributes and jazz, every second and fourth Thursday of the month through August.

The Parks and Recreation Department puts on the music series every year to bring more people downtown.

"It's a good event to bring people downtown so people can go down to the shops and the restaurants and just enjoy what what downtown has to offer," says Parks and Recreation Special Events Coordinator, Taylor Aherron.

You can bring your own chair, blanket, and food. Admission is free and the show starts at 6:30.

Here's a list of the summer's shows:
June 14 - Cruize Control Band (Beach, Boogie, and Blues)
June 28 - Mel Melton and the Wicked Mojos (Zydeco)
July 12 - Small Town Orchestra (Jazz)
July 26 - Wayne Euliss (Elvis Tribute)
August 9 - New Habit Band (Bluegrass)
August 23 - Johnny-O and the Jump Out Boys (Old School Chicago Blues)

In case of rain, the concert will be moved to the Carrington Pavilion.
