CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) A Christiansburg shopping center that's been nearly empty for years is getting major cosmetic changes, but no official word of any new businesses.

Town council approved a 1.38 million dollar upgrade to the Christiansburg Marketplace that includes a new entrance.

A new stoplight will be added to the intersection of North Franklin Street and Shoppers Way near Arby's.

New sidewalks and stormwater ponds will be added to make room for new development.

The town isn't saying if any new businesses are lined up to fill the shopping center.
