SALEM, Va. (WDBJ7) The beer is now flowing from the taps at Olde Salem Brewing Company.
And moments after the doors opened at 3pm, the large tasting room was busy with customers sampliing the suds.
Maggie Hughes Coffey is the Tasting Room Manager.
"They can expect a really beautiful building," she told us, "good bar staff that know their beer and can help them navigate their way through our styles and hopefully a really fun time."
The brewery is located in the old Tarpley's Building on Main Street, a Salem landmark that's over 100 years old.
The owners say they are proud of the renovation and pleased to be part of the new development that's taking place downtown.
"We're down here in the heart of Salem," said Michael Turk one of the owners, "and there couldn't be anything better than to remodel the old Tarpley's building and bring it back to what it was in its heyday."
Olde Salem Brewing has a five barrel system, with six beers on tap for opening day.
The brewmaster expects that number to grow, with 10 or 12 varieties available in the next few months.
