BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) A new bus service connecting Blacksburg with Washington DC debuts on Friday.

The Virginia Breeze will leave Virginia Tech each morning at 8:00, and arrive at Union Station at 2:30 in the afternoon.

A second bus will make a daily run in the opposite direction.

On Wednesday, the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation brought the bus to Radford University and Virginia Tech and invited students to check it out.

Kelsey Webb is a public relations and marketing specialist with the agency.

"We wanted to give people another way to get up to DC," Webb said, "and we also figured it would be a good idea to connect people regionally to other parts of the state."

The Virginia Breeze will make several stops along the way, including Christiansburg, Lexington, Staunton, Harrisonburg and Dulles Airport.

A one-way trip between Blacksburg and Washington will cost about $50.
