New tool helps students earn college credits for military work, learning experience

VIRGINIA (WDBJ7) Military experience can now easily be translated into academic credits at Community Colleges in Virginia.

The Credits2Careers program is now available for students who are veterans or current military members.

They can upload their Joint Services Transcripts into the online program to see how many academic credits they may receive from their prior leaning or work experience.

"It will allow them to look at a program they might be particularly interested in or a region of Virginia they might be interested in attending school and look at the programs available," said Tammy Smith, the admission and records coordinator at New River Community College.

The students can discover which community college best fits their career path. This is available through all community colleges in Virginia.
