No Doctor in Town: A WDBJ7 Special Report

By  |

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) The closing of Pioneer Community Hospital in Patrick County last year underscored a problem impacting communities across the United States. Rural areas with small populations and limited competition between health care providers often struggle to maintain or expand options for medical services.

WDBJ7 is looking at the state of health care in rural parts of our region, where access to specialists and primary care physicians can often be scarce.

“No Doctor in Town” airs Monday at 6 p.m. on WDBJ7.
