CARROLL CO., Va. (WDBJ7)-- UPDATE:
Virginia State Police say police responded to the first of three over-turned tractor-trailers on Interstate 77 in Carroll County at around 7:44 a.m. Thursday morning.
Police say all three tractor trailers were driving northbound on Interstate 77 when high winds caused them to overturn. This happened near mile marker 2 at the Virginia-North Carolina border.
According to police, none of the drivers were injured.
State police encourage traffic traveling through this area to continue with extreme caution or seek and alternate route until the winds calm.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, there have been numerous accidents on Interstate 77 North in Carroll County Thursday morning. VDOT reports drivers should expect delays of 4 miles.
According to VDOT, a tractor trailer accident is causing delays near mile marker 2.5 on Interstate 77 North. The north right lane and right shoulder are closed there.
VDOT also reports there are also multiple vehicle accidents at mile marker 2.7 causing delays and backups. At mile marker 2.7, the north left shoulder, center lane, right lane, and right shoulder are closed.
