Officials searching for suspect who led police on chase, crashed in Martinsville area

HENRY CO., Va. (WDBJ7) A suspect stole a car out of Franklin County and crashed it in Martinsville on Sunday afternoon, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say it all started around 11:10 a.m., when an investigator spotted a Mazda sedan that had been reported stolen out of Franklin County.

The investigator tried to stop the car, but the driver refused to pull over.

The driver continued through Fieldale at slow speeds, eventually stopping at the intersection of Pine Street and Chestnut Street.

At that point a woman got out of the car and ran off.

The driver then took off at a high speed, and later crashed the car Carver Road in Martinsville.

The driver ran away from the scene. Police are still looking for him at this time.
