BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) The old Blacksburg High School property is now on the market.
A For Sale sign went up this week on the 36 acre site. Montgomery County owns the property and is advertising it to a broader audience.
Leaders say about three agencies have shown interest in the former school.
"The board of supervisors was given that property from the school board with the understanding that we would sell that property to general money for schools. so we had to get fair market value. The town had their position and we have ours," said Chris Tuck, the chairman of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors.
The town of Blacksburg first showed interest in the property when the county declared it surplus. County leaders rejected the town's first offer.
Blacksburg plans to send the county a new offer early next week.
