MONTGOMERY CO., Va. (WDBJ7) The old Blacksburg Middle School building has been sold.

Montgomery County has reached an agreement to sell the old Blacksburg Middle School property for $4.25 million.

Montgomery County and Fiddler’s Green have entered into a two-step sale agreement for $4.25. The first part of the agreement is for the back 14 acres of the property for $1.75 million. Fiddler’s Green will then have a 12-month option to purchase the front 5.9 acres for $2.5 million

This purchase agreement will supersede the contract signed by Montgomery County and Fiddler’s Green in 2011.

Montgomery County received three purchase offers for the property.

While it’s not exactly clear what Fiddler’s Green plans to do with the property, the real estate developer owns a subdivision in the area.

Money from the sale will go toward school capital construction projects in Montgomery County. The property will also return to the tax rolls, expanding the tax base.

The purchase is on the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors' agenda for Monday's meeting.

When the sale is approved, it will end 14 years of debate between Montgomery County and Blacksburg. The school was originally built in 1952 and served as the high school until 1974. The building was torn down in 2011.
