Opening day for WDBJ7's Elmwood on Ice

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) It’s time to bundle up and head out to Elmwood Park in Downtown Roanoke. Wednesday, November 22, is the opening day of WDBJ7’s Elmwood on Ice.

The rink will officially open at 11 a.m. and you can skate all day until 10 p.m.

No matter how old you are, everyone is invited to come out on the ice and skate.

“After Elmwood Park was constructed we looked for ways to activate the space during the colder months when there wouldn't be much activity in the area. We worked with Roanoke City Parks and Recreation to find out what would work best in the space and settled on an ice rink. Ice rinks have worked well in other downtowns and we were excited to see one in Roanoke,” said Jaime Clark of Downtown Roanoke Inc.

If you’re not an expert skater, no need to worry they have ice skating aids to help you get around.

Here are some key things you need to know:
- Admission: $6
- Skate Rentals: $2
- Ice Slide: $3
- Purchase All 3 (admission, skates, and slide): $10
- Season Pass: $75 to skate and slide any time WDBJ7’s Elmwood on
Ice is open.

WDBJ7’s Elmwood on Ice is open Wednesday through Sunday.
