ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) An overnight chase reached speeds of greater than 100 miles per hour across the Roanoke Valley.

Roanoke police pursued a suspect around Hersberger Road, Peters Creek Road, and Melrose Avenue before the chase reached I-81 South.

It came to an end just before 3 a.m. on Monday in the 5900 block of Poor Mountain Road in Roanoke County when the suspect's car flipped over.

The driver, Donald Ray Oliver, 45, of Salem, was taken into custody and sent to the hospital for an injured arm.

Oliver's vehicle matched the description of a suspect who stole a large screen TV from the Valley View Walmart around 2 a.m.

Oliver is charged with grand larceny and felony elude. A spokesman for the Roanoke Police Department says it's his understanding that Oliver also had a felony probation violation out of Salem.
