SALEM, Va. (WDBJ7) Gov. McAuliffe announced that Parkway Brewing Company in Salem will create 13 new jobs and invest more than $750,000 to expand its brewery.
Parkway says it will create the new jobs over the next three years. The $750,000 will go toward new equipment. Additionally, Gov. McAuliffe’s office says Parkway will purchase 56 percent of its agricultural products from Virginia farmers.
Gov. McAuliffe approved a $150,000 grant from the Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development Fund, which Salem will match with local funds. According to Parkway, the city’s funds will be used for building improvements. Additional funding and services will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program. Parkway says it eligible for about $4,800 in grant funds from the VJIP.
Parkway opened its location on Kesler Mill Road in 2013.
At first, 15 new jobs were reported. Both the Governor's office and Parkway Brewing sent out an updated correction saying 13 jobs were created.
